But getting back to this week's upgrade, and that is the very important black stuff that keeps your car on the road and safe - the tyres!

Of course when it came to this decision, although there are tons of options out there, it was easy for us. We went straight to the guys at Yokohama SA, as they make serious rubber!

And it wasn't just a case of fitting the cheapest, we opted for 205/40 17" S.drives. Let me tell you why: the tyre is designed for spirited driving and as such gives you the confidence to extract the very best from your car.

The design for the tread pattern of the S.drive is a product of Yokohama's
advanced simulation technology. The innovative Variable Angled Groove that optimises tread contact with the road provides dramatically enhanced
traction while cornering.

The Groove-in-Groove design has resulted in a major advance in the battle to eliminate uneven tyre wear because it allows the pattern block to effectively distribute stress loads even during tight cornering. The four straight, wide grooves drain water effectively and make superior handling on a wet surface possible.

To cope with constantly changing contact conditions in a very pro-active manner, Yokohama has developed through its in-house technological skills, a new micro-flexible compound that is responsive to undulations in the road surface at the nano level.

In comparison with the original MF compounds, the addition of extra silica has further enhanced driving in the wet, while extra polymer has improved performance when it is dry.
