We at SAC want to do everything that we can to stretch a tank of fuel, and we mean everything to improve fuel consumption.

The average vehicle has a 60 litre fuel tank that means R600.00 to fill it up.
Is this scary?
Of course it is.
It is definitely becoming very necessary to save money while motoring in every aspect and while everyone has a pet theory on how to save fuel, it all boils down to the driver and the vehicle.
There are people out there that won't be too concerned about the price of fuel and about their vehicles fuel consumption.
It wont do any harm to really understand the raw facts.
6 km / litre vehicles doing a average of 40 000 kilometres per year will cost roughly R 65 000 to fuel at R10.00 per litre.
If there could be a saving of 2 km / litre the same vehicle will cost R 50 000 to fuel, that is a savings of R 15 000 per year, in three years R 45 000.
Does it start to make sense now or not?
We want to firstly educate the driver as much as possible to help him / her understand fuel consumption and then we will ensure that the vehicle is optimized to the maximum to use as little as possible fuel, not only a tuned engine but all the add-ons and their effects too. |

A FEW FACTS TO REMEMBER THAT WILL CERTAINLY HELP YOU SAVE FUEL:
· Ensure that your vehicle’s tyres are pumped to the correct pressure.
· Ensure that your wheel alignment is correctly set, if not the vehicle will pull to one side when you leave the steering wheel and you will use more fuel.
· Avoid using electrical components: eg. lights, radio, air-conditioner, window demister, etc. These components will cause the alternator to work harder and you will use more fuel.
· Ensure that your vehicle is properly tuned by experts who can monitor wasted fuel & air fuel ratio under load “on a chassis dynamometer”.
· A roof rack or carrier as well as cosmetic components will create extra drag and they affect the weight of the vehicle.
· Drive light-footed and change gears as quick as possible - Avoid revving the engine excessively.
· If you smell fuel in or around your vehicle, it’s probably a leak . Have it attended to promptly!
· Conversions to enhance the power of a vehicle will help you save fuel, your vehicle will have enough power at low rpm to ensure that you do not need to rev the engine excessively.
· Remapping the ECU on modern fuel injected vehicles will ensure the best possible fuel consumption at all throttle positions.
· Avoid driving long distances when it is windy.
· Never carry unnecessary weight in the vehicle.
· Use a logbook to record & measure your fuel consumption, that way you will know when something is wrong.
· Never use off-road tyres when you drive more on-road than off-road.
